The stone foundation of the Zangdo Pelri was laid by His Excellency Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk , Minister of Trade & Industry and Chairman of CHPC on 13th October 2000.
Later after the completion, it was consecrated by His Holiness Jamyang Khentse Rinpoche from 24th to 26th November 2004. Her Majesties the Queens, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck graced the consecration on 26th November 2004.
