Handing Taking over of Honey Collection Center, Dzedokha, Logchina
A Honey Collection Center, which was constructed at Dzedokha, Logchina was formally handed over to Logchina Sipzam Tsochung Detshen on January 5, 2017 in presence of Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, RLDC, Tsimasham and Logchina Gewog Administration. It was constructed on cost sharing basis where the group members had contributed labours and locally available construction materials. A sum of 0.565 million was provided by National Highland Research and Development Centre, Bumthang for purchase of hardware materials and payment of skilled labours. It shall be used for collection, processing and marketing of local bee honey (Apis Cerena & Apis Trigona). During this event, the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector also handed over the Farmer’s Group Registration Certificate (FG 367) issued by Department of Agriculture, Marketing and Cooperatives, MoAF. The Queen Project Office also supplied a Honey extractor to process the honey. The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector had supplied improved hives, smokers, veils and honey bottle besides training.
The honey produced by these members are collected and supply to Queen Project Office, Thimphu. The Group also collected honey from the non-members group. The current buying rate for local bee honey is Nu 550/Kg and Nu 3150/Kg for Putka honey and selling rate is Nu 600/Kg and Nu 3’200/Kg respectively. Currently, there are 23 members from Dzedokha, Amaley and Dofam villages managed by Chairman, Secretary and Accountant. The group has supplied 301 Kgs of local bee honey (Apis Cerena) and 12.5 Kgs of Putka honey (Apis Trigona). The group has accumulated a sum of Nu 32’000/- in their group account.
